The RIFA Thrift Store will be having a bag sale on the days of February 8th and 9th. The store hours are 9:00-4:00. The item eligible for sale will be all winter clothing. The cost of a big will be ONLY $6!
So come down to RIFA on February 8th-9th and fill up a bag!
Girl Scouts (Troop Number 40328) from New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church came to RIFA on Martin Luther King Day. The girls gave up their day off school to come and serve. The girls helped clean the offices at RIFA and sort through clothing donations for the Thrift Store. They also spent part of their days serving in the soup kitchen.
The girls enjoyed their time at RIFA and are eager to do more! They are now in the process of organizing a macaroni food drive to benefit the Snack Backpack program.
RIFA would like to thank these Girl Scouts for donating their time to help RIFA and serve the community!
The number of children in our community going home hungry over the weekend is a growing need. The RIFA Snack Backpack program is able to provide weekend food to these children in need. Each bag contains 10 kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare food items. Last year, we served only 11 schools and 339 students. Now, we serve 13 elementary schools in Jackson-Madison County and 487 students per week.
RIFA would like to thank all of you who donate to the Snack Backpack program. Our donations over the Christmas Holiday exceeded our expectations. The need, however, does not stop after Christmas..
We need your help to continue to provide this service to the children. So, if you already donate to the program continue to do so. If not, please consider making donations to the Snack Backpack program. Get a group together and have a food drive specifically for Snack Backpack items.
Thank you for all you do to help us out, so that we might help these children in our community . We cannot do this alone, so join us in the effort to ensure that these children get enough food on weekends.
Here is a list of the items to include:
RIFA is looking forward to another great year. The Lord was very gracious to provide volunteers, food, donations, and opportunities for RIFA this past year. Knowing that he is a gracious and good God we look forward to another great year in whatever form it may take.
Many exciting things will be happening this year. The first and most glaring: the big MOVE! We are looking forward to all the changes coming with this move. Also, RIFA’s after school program Club 412 will be continuing and we hope to see this program grow. The Snack Backpack program is going strong. Donations and volunteers are up. We have added more schools and students since last year!
Please pray with us that God will give us all eyes of compassion and hands that readily seek to do the work of the Father.
RIFA would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. We could not do what we do without you!
RIFA will be closed from Dec. 17-Jan. 1. An exception to this will be the Soup Kitchen, which will stay open at the normal times.
Thank you and we look forward to another great year next year!
