RIFA Summer Club 2012 Kicking Off Soon!

The RIFA Summer Club will be kicking off in just a few months, starting June 6th and ending July 25th. It is a fun and interactive day camp with a biblical emphasis for children ages K-6th grade living in the LANA area, provided at no charge to the family. It’s a summer filled with Bible stories, lively songs, creative crafts, exciting games, nutritional snacks and great fun.

When: Wednesday, June 6th – Wednesday, July 25th

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Where: Lambuth Memorial UMC.

The following is a list of needs for Summer Club

Lemonade/Kool-aid (mixes or individually packaged drinks)

Packs of Crackers

Nutritious Snacks

Plastic spoons

Napkins

Toilet paper

Paper towels

Fresh fruit

Kick balls

Basketballs

Ball pump

Orange cones

Financial gifts

***We are also looking for church groups to volunteer for one week during the summer to work with the kids.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner!

RIFA relies heavily upon its volunteers. The volunteers allow us to be able to reach a very large number of people. Without the help of volunteers many of our programs would not be able to run. We cannot express our gratitude enough for the dedication you, our volunteers, give to RIFA and our mission.

So, in honor of all our volunteers, RIFA will be hosting its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. The dinner will be Friday April 20th. We would like to thank the Old Country Store, Shirley’s Bakery, and Moe’s Southwest Grill for their donations to this dinner.

This is one small way we would like to say thanks for all you do!

Do you shop for groceries? Of course you do, but did you know that you can help RIFA at the same time? Well now you can! Through a partnership with Kroger, you can get 5 percent of the money you spend at Kroger donated to RIFA! The process is simple, come to RIFA and purchase a 5 dollar Kroger Card. That 5 dollar card is preloaded with 5 dollars to shop with. Go to your favorite Kroger Store and load the card with the amount you will spend on groceries. Happy Thanksgiving from RIFA

RIFA would like to wish a happy Thanksgiving to all of our donors, volunteers, supporters  and all of our patrons. As Thanksgiving is now upon us, RIFA has much to be thankful. We are thankful for all our donors who have given generously and sacrificially to enable us to continue to function as we have. We are thankful for our volunteers who are the backbone of our workforce and give of their time to serve the community. We are thankful for our patrons and for what God has done and is doing in their lives. And we thank God who sovereignly orchestrates all that goes on at RIFA. We have seen him provide funds and volunteers when we did not think they were coming and needed them most. Happy Thanksgiving to all from the staff at RIFA!

RIFA Holiday Hours: Thursday (11/24) and Friday (11/25)  everything will be closed, EXCEPT the Soup Kitchen, which will maintain its normal hours. Monday we will resume normal hours.

Christian Women’s Job Corps Offered by RIFA.

RIFA is now offering Christian Women’s Job Corps near the Campus of Jackson State Community College. The classes will be held at the Baptist Collegiate Ministries building across from the campus of Jackson State at 2035 North Parkway. The classes will meet Monday and Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 beginning October 3rd. Ladies who are 18 and up are eligible for the program.

Christian Women’s Job Corps seeks to help women develop job skills with the aim of enabling the student to have what they need to get and hold a job. The program not only seeks to develop job skills, but also to teach the ladies to become women of integrity.

Chickfila, Girl Scouts, Team up to help RIFA!

For the second time this year Chickfila on Vann Drive will be teaming up with RIFA to help collect can goods. This time the Girl Scouts will be getting in on the action. This years “Girl Power” event will be happening at Chick-fila on August the 15th from 5 to 9pm. The Soup Kitchen Gets a New Graphic

 

 

 

 

 

Recently the RIFA Soup Kitchen received a face lift in the form of a new door graphic. While replacing the door to the soup kitchen we had to have a new graphic created, this one is in color and stands out significantly better than the last graphic.

Summer Thrift Store “Stuff a Bag” Clothing and Book Sale!

The RIFA Thrift Store will hold a Summer Clothing Sale, Wednesday and
Thursday, August 3rd and 4th, from 9am to 4pm. All summer clothing that can be
stuffed in a RIFA shopping bag will be sold for $6.00 per bag. In addition to this bag sale for clothing, we will also be holding a book sale on the loading dock with the unbeatable rate of 3 dollars per bag! Come see us for some great deals next week!

The Results of the ChickFila Food Drive!

Here are the results from all of the food you brought into the Chick Fila’s on Vann Drive and in the Mall on Tuesday. From Vann Drive:  673 lbs  and from the Old Hickory Mall:  42 lbs. We are so thankful for the support from these restaurants  and for you our readers!
